Matthew 16:21-23

Grieving Over the Future

March 23, 2025 by Dr. Jeff Warren

In this exploration of future grief, we’re challenged to confront the reality of what will, might, and could happen in our lives. Centering on Matthew 16:21-23, we see Jesus preparing His disciples for His impending death and resurrection. This passage invites us to live fully in the present, embracing the finite nature of our earthly existence. We’re encouraged to love deeply, forgive freely, and seize opportunities to make a positive impact today. The message reminds us that while we can’t control the future, we can choose how we respond to it. By focusing on Christ’s resurrection power within us, we can face uncertain futures with hope and purpose, transforming our anticipatory grief into anticipatory joy.
