John 11

Grieving Over Others

April 06, 2025 by Travis Cook

In this message titled, “Grieving Over Others,” we delve into the story of Lazarus from John 11. The message challenges us to engage with sorrow using our entire being – rationally, emotionally, and physically. We’re reminded that Jesus himself wept and was deeply moved by the grief of others, even those who opposed him. This teaches us that God’s compassion extends to all, regardless of our current relationship with Him. The lesson encourages us to avoid getting stuck on ‘why’ questions and instead focus on ‘what,’ ‘how,’ and ‘who’ God remains in our pain. We’re called to empathize with others’ suffering, even when it seems deserved, mirroring Christ’s example of weeping with those who weep. This message invites us to examine our own emotional responses and consider how we can more fully engage with the grief around us, trusting in the ultimate hope of resurrection.
