Lesson 8: God’s Love is Confounding

July 20, 2025 by Caleb Rhoades

In times of uncertainty, how should we as righteous people live? The book of Habakkuk offers profound insights into this question. As we journey through Habakkuk’s conversation with God, we’re reminded that being righteous isn’t about having all the answers, but about faithfully seeking God. Habakkuk’s raw, honest questions to God about injustice and suffering mirror our own struggles. Yet, God’s response teaches us to broaden our perspective, to see beyond our immediate circumstances to His greater plan. Like Habakkuk, we’re called to be faithful in prayer, work, and worship, even when we don’t understand. This message challenges us to examine our own ‘moral compass’ and to consider whether we’re truly living by faith or merely by our own understanding. As we face our own uncertainties, can we, like Habakkuk, move from questioning to worship, finding strength not in our circumstances but in God’s faithful character?
